to use a radiohead analogy, "let's pretend these don't exist" is to "poor horse i & ii" as "amnesiac" is to "kid a." for those of you who hate radiohead (and there are many), what that means is "let's pretend" consists of the overflow songs that didn't quite work on "poor horse i & ii," for whatever reason. a lot of these songs are blatant early dylan rip-offs (see "bathtub visions #1" and "talkin' world leader blues no. 196"), but nevertheless, i'm proud of the lyricism on these tunes. "let's pretend these don't exist" is only a necessity for poor horse obsessives (not that such people exist).
